Puppetry | JUL 27-30, 9AM-NOON

from $150.00

Ages 10+

This will be a very unique with an ulterior motive! I would love to have some of the art students participate in the Christmas parade with lantern puppets, so we will be workshopping the design and construction of their very own lantern headpiece or some type of lantern animal creation. It is NOT NECESSARY for them to participate in the parade, so if they just want to learn how to build one, please come anyway! But we are going to explore some design and construction ideas for individual ones in preparation for the possible construction of a much larger one to be a part of the parade. Students will craft glowing, sculptural puppet animals using lightweight materials, a specific type of larger papier mâché covering, and designing the mechanics to make them have some movement. We want them to bring their characters to life! As they build and experiment, students will discover how light, movement, and form work together to create expressive and visually striking puppets.

(photos do not necessarily depict the exact project, as those will be finalized as the camp gets closer. But it will be something very similar)

***There is a $10 per camp discount if you do both the morning and afternoon camp in the same week. ($20 total).

***If you do both morning and afternoon camps in the same week, students should bring a lunch and will have from noon-1pm to sit and eat and relax while we switch over to the afternoon camp setup.

***If you sign up for 4 camps at once, you get $50 off the total price of all four camps.
