Writing Creative Nonfiction (SERIES PASS) | STARTS WED., SEP. 30, 6-8PM
This listing is for the WHOLE SERIES (ALL 4 CLASSES)
OR if you cannot attend all four classes, you can purchase the individual classes separately (under “Workshops”)
Adults and teens 15+
We all have stories to tell—of losses, of huge victories, of small moments that have stayed with us for reasons only we know. And guess what: most people have had experiences similar to yours! We may not have spilled chocolate ice cream on our white shirt in front of a long-time crush, but we’ve all had moments of embarrassment so sharp we wanted the ground to swallow us whole, and we’ve all had times when we were so proud we wanted the world to know.
In this series of classes, you’ll learn how to transform those stories into compelling, relatable personal essays. No, this isn’t the five-paragraph essay you had to write in school. This is creative nonfiction, where you have room to make your story as entertaining, moving, and attention-grabbing as you want (and maybe gain a few readers along the way.)
Come write with us and discover the value of your personal stories, even the ones you’ve thought no one else would care about. Readers need your stories so they can realize they’re not as alone as they thought—and that there’s someone out there who understands them.
Week 1 - So What? Hooking the reader and setting the tone.
Week 2 - The Architecture. Establish the structure for your essay.
Week 3 - Anchors. Grounding abstract ideas with physical settings.
Week 4 - Landing It. Landing the ending and revising our writing.
Every participant receives guided prompt menus and exercises, so you’ll never have to worry about staring at a blank page. Enjoy complimentary fresh artisan bread and coffee during each session to fuel your writing! You can also BYOB. Come get creative with us while learning the art of storytelling!
